The first phase of The fall of BabylonThe closed beta test took place on PC. With the report of this test now available, developer PlatinumGames and publisher Square Enix have announced the next phase of the beta. Phase 2 will take place on PlayStation 4 later this month, with dates depending on your region.
The purpose of the beta is just to test the technical aspects of the game such as the stress of a large number of players on its servers. The test only lasts 2.5 hours in each region. Japan will begin on September 10, with the test scheduled to take place between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. JST. The test in North America will take place the next day, September 11, between 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. PDT. Finally, the Europe test will take place between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. BST on September 13. Applications to participate in the beta closed on July 5 and those chosen to participate will be contacted by email.
Due to the test’s emphasis on technical aspects, areas of the game such as the initial story and tutorial will not be available. Instead, players will arrive at Sentinel Force Headquarters, the game’s base camp from which the main storyline and various quests will progress. characters can be created and basic equipment purchased from vendors, but none of this data will carry over to the main game when it releases – all players will start over from scratch.
Those who are waiting to try The fall of Babylon on PlayStation 5 will have to wait a little longer. The PS5 will be added during the third test phase with cross-platform play between consoles and PC. Phase 3 is currently scheduled for November. Players will also have to wait a bit longer for more game news. The fall of Babylon will not appear on the Tokyo Game Show.
