After months of waiting, Call of Duty Vanguard was finally revealed at a Warzone event earlier this week.
Returning to a WWII setting, Call of Duty Vanguard has a November 5 release date on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
All eyes will be on the next-gen versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which are expected to feature improved visuals, faster load speeds, and in the case of the PS5, support for the DualSense controller.
Fans hoping to get a glimpse of PS5 and Xbox Series X footage won’t have to wait very long, as Call of Duty Vanguard gameplay premieres later this week.
It all happens during the live preview of gamescom Opening Night, which takes place at 7 p.m. BST on Wednesday, August 25.
According to event organizer Geoff Keighley,
“Experience Call of Duty Vanguard’s first raw and real next-gen gameplay on Wednesday at gamescom opening night live,” Keighley tweeted.
“Don’t miss an extended level game with special guests Laura Bailey and Sledgehammer Games.”
In the meantime, fans can check out the Call of Duty Vanguard trailer below.
Vanguard’s reveal has already racked up an impressive 18 million views on YouTube, despite only being live for three days.
That’s 7 million more views than Black Ops Cold War has managed in its lifetime.
It is, however, well below the numbers accumulated by Infinite Warfare, Black Ops 2, and Call of Duty Ghosts.

Vanguard has 133,000 likes and 18,000 dislikes, compared to 642,000 likes and 3.9 million dislikes for Infinite Warfare.
The Call of Duty Vanguard campaign takes place during World War II, in four “major theaters of war”.
This adds up to a huge multiplayer experience featuring 16 regular maps and four smaller maps.
