Xbox – PSP Oste Mon, 21 Jun 2021 21:48:02 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Xbox – PSP Oste 32 32 Microsoft to build cloud-native Xbox games, and the woman behind Portal will lead Mon, 21 Jun 2021 20:11:03 +0000

On February 1, I shed a tear for the future of gaming when Google decided it would no longer keep its promise to make games specifically for the cloud. But Microsoft is on the verge of picking up the baton: The company has hired former Google Stadia design director Kim Swift, best known for Valve’s hit game. Portal, according to an interview with Polygon.

“Kim is going to build a team focused on new cloud experiences,” said Peter Wyse, director of publishing for Xbox Game Studios. Polygon, adding that Microsoft’s goal was to create “cloud native games.”

Swift has spent over a decade in the gaming industry since her student project Narbacular gout landed her team jobs at Valve Software, where she led development on Portal. She later became an artist on Left for dead and Left 4 dead 2, created an unreleased game for Amazon and was studio design director at EA, according to his LinkedIn page.

But perhaps her most intriguing role is the one she just left at Google Stadia, where she has “overseen the development of a dozen external development games” and “identified potential R&D within Google for herself. developing into a new first-party project using cutting-edge technology, innovative machine learning technology, which meant that she was working with Google and Google’s closest partners on games that could have truly taken advantage of the cloud.

Basically, the games you can play on cloud services like Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and Microsoft xCloud are do not “cloud native. They were designed to run on existing consoles and PCs, so the benefits you typically get from the cloud are faster load times, no need to install or patch above-average games and graphics. . Every game you play on Microsoft’s xCloud runs on a single Xbox card in a server rack, so it’s not all this is different from the experience of playing on an Xbox at home.

But Google has promised that it will one day offer more: games that could harness the power of many servers to bring you gameplay and graphics never possible with a single console in your home. Google hired Jade Raymond, a senior executive in the games industry, to run its development studios; in 2019, she said that it may take “several years” to produce a game “that will take full advantage of the cloud”. (Stadia also offers a handful of optional cloud-exclusive features, but few developers have taken advantage of them.)

With Google studios closed, Raymond is now working on making games for Sony, with no particular mention of the cloud, but Swift has just been snapped up by Microsoft with an explicit mandate to create a new kind of native game for streaming in the cloud.

“We don’t know exactly what it looks like today, or what it even looks like,” Wyze said. Polygon. But maybe in a few years we will. Solid metal gear and Death stranding author Hideo Kojima said many times he would like to create a game explicitly for streaming, and VentureBeat‘s Jeff Grubb says Microsoft is in talks to make a deal there.

There are other signs that Microsoft is taking cloud gaming seriously as well. The company recently announced that it is upgrading its xCloud servers to the latest Xbox Series X hardware instead of the older Xbox One S server blades it was using before, which should improve the quality significantly. Microsoft has said it will also leave the original Xbox One consoles in action, letting them play games like Flight simulator which would have previously been out of reach had it not been for cloud streaming.

And in the documents exhumed during the discovery in the Epic vs. Apple trial, we learned that Microsoft was trying to lock down the streaming rights of all of its game development partners in exchange for Microsoft drastically slashing its app store fees by 30%.

Cloud streaming was a growing business – for Sony, anyway.
Microsoft document image

Microsoft’s own internal documents suggested cloud gaming was not a big concern in 2019 – a presentation we spotted during testing suggests that the entire category only picked up around 300. million dollars in 2019, most of it coming from Sony’s PlayStation Now. (Google Stadia didn’t launch until November 2019.) Microsoft also commented in this presentation that neither Sony’s nor Google’s cloud gaming efforts were seen as profitable. And yet, the category saw revenue growth of 167% that year.

I personally use Beboncool rechargeable batteries for Xbox and have found them powerful and reliable after several months of use. I would have liked to wait a bit to take advantage of this sale, however.

The high-quality cells recharge relatively quickly through the USB connector and automatically turn off when fully charged to avoid problems.

COD Warzone 0-1766 memory error is confusing Xbox users (workarounds) Sat, 19 Jun 2021 16:40:53 +0000

New updates are added at the bottom of this story …….

The original story (published May 26, 2021) follows:

COD: Warzone is still one of the most popular battle royale games in the world thanks to the regular updates and fixes it receives to keep things up to date.

But it seems like updates and fixes sometimes do the opposite of what they’re supposed to, as each update brings a set of new bugs and issues that need to be addressed.

In fact, we did a poll asking readers if they noticed the various COD: Warzone Dev errors recently and 90% confirmed it was a mess. More on that here.

Having said that, many players of COD: Warzone are now reporting that they are receiving an error saying “Memory Error 0-1766” when playing the game on Xbox consoles.

@RavenSoftware glad I spent 2400 this season only to reboot from each game to my Xbox main screen with memory error 0-1766. I will not be purchasing another season while the rave software is in charge. What a warzone joke has become since the integration of the cold war. (Source)

@RavenSoftware PLEASE FIX 0-1766 MEMORY ERROR for Xbox. My game keeps crashing, restarting, and shutting down my Xbox all the time. (Source)

@RavenSoftware wtf wrong with memory error 0 – 1766 in warzone ?! (Source)

COD: Warzone players started receiving the 0-1766 memory error message a few days ago and reports of the issue flooded Twitter, Reddit, and the Microsoft community website.

One individual even shared a screenshot of the error message. Check it out below:

Raven Software or Activision have yet to publicly acknowledge the problem. However, an Xbox ambassador on the Microsoft community has claims that Activision is aware of the problem and is supposedly working on a fix.

There is a problem between the Cold War and the Modern War. Activision is aware of the problem and is supposed to be working on a fix. I am getting the same game crashing issues after just one match and it only happens in Warzone, Rebirth and Looting.

Since the problem has not yet been officially acknowledged, it is not known how long it will take for the bug to be fixed.

Having said that, if you also get the message “Memory Error 0-1766” when playing COD: Warzone, you can try some of these workarounds which seem to have fixed the issue for some players.

Workarounds for memory error 0-1766 in COD: Warzone

A Microsoft agent shared a few generic workarounds that sometimes resolve the issue:

A few gamers who have encountered the issue claim that turning off HDR option fixes the issue for them. However, there are others who say it didn’t help. Nonetheless, it’s worth it.

So far this fixes mine (Source)

Another person claimed that lowering the resolution to 1080p fixed the issue for a few turns, but it reappeared.

Set to 1080p and it worked for a few games but now memory error 0 – 1766 is back: / (Source)

That said, we will keep an eye on the situation and post an update if and when there are further developments regarding the COD: Warzone Memory error 0-1766 issue.

Update 1 (May 27)

Here is a user shared workaround on how to fix memory error 0-1776, you can try it.

Update 2 (May 28)

Raven Software has confirmed that it is aware of the memory error affecting Xbox players during or after a game and investigation.

Update 3 (May 29)

An individual has sharing a workaround that seems to have done the trick for them. According to them, removing the following items and disabling HDR solved the problem. Needless to say, your mileage may vary depending on the workaround:

Remove the following:

– Data packets 1 and 2
– 4 resolution packages

Raven Software has yet to share any further details.

Update 4 (May 31)

Reports suggest that turning off 4K and HDR, followed by setting it to 1080p fixes the problem. So you can also try this workaround. This is what a user is mentionned on this subject :

Disable 4k and HDR on your Xbox, set it to 1080p, and that will fix the problem. It took the Xbox to be set up on different TVs to figure this out; the problem did not happen on my son’s 1080p tv, only on my 4k. Sad Activision couldn’t figure it out.

Update 5 (June 04)

COD: Warzone gets a new update which makes some adjustments to the playlist and even fixes a few bugs. However, the issue of memory error 0-1766 has not yet been resolved because there is no mention of a fix for it in the change log.

Update 6 (June 12)

As for workarounds, apps running in the background might be causing such errors (due to shorter memory or heavy application load).

So close background apps before playing the game as a basic troubleshooting step to see if that helps.

Update 7 (June 16)

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will get the Season 4 Update tomorrow. As a result, the 0-1766 memory error issue may be resolved on Xbox consoles.

However, the team has yet to make an official statement regarding the status of the issue, leading us to believe that it may take a little longer for the issue to be resolved.

Update 8 (June 17)

The Season 4 update has been released, but unfortunately the 0-1766 memory error still has not been fixed and players are continuing to complain.

Update 9 (June 18)

Raven Software’s official Trello board says the team is still investigate memory error on Xbox consoles. Therefore, users may have to wait for updates to come which will hopefully fix the issue.

Update 10 (June 19)

A new update was uploaded for COD Warzone, however, it also doesn’t contain a fix for the 0-1766 memory error that has been bothering users for weeks now.

Japan is Xbox’s fastest growing market Wed, 16 Jun 2021 13:30:00 +0000

Japan is currently the fastest growing market for Xbox, with strong adoption in the country for Xbox Series X | S consoles and a growing collection of independent developers creating for Xbox consoles.

Talk to IGN JapanXbox Asia Manager Jeremy Hinton said, “Japan is our fastest growing market in the world.

“We have experienced phenomenal growth in the last twelve months in Japan,” he continued. “And these are new people entering our ecosystem, these are the people who sign up for Game Pass, these are the people who buy accessories or PC games. So we’re seeing some really phenomenal growth coming from Japan to be at the top of this list for us. “

Hinton notes that a large percentage of this growth has come from Japanese gamers who have never owned an Xbox before. “There is no doubt that the demand is absolutely increasing in Japan, and I see that in the data that I can see, we have a very high percentage of consoles purchased by people who have never owned an Xbox in the past. “, did he declare. mentionned. “And the next segment of consumers buying consoles is moving to the Xbox 360, which has been a pretty successful generation for us in Japan. So we see strong leading indicators for us to reach new people. Demand is certainly higher, we are seeing stocks sell out within minutes. “

Contrary to American and Western tastes, the smaller and less powerful Xbox Series S seems to be the most popular Microsoft offering in Japan. “I think we are seeing more demand for the S series in Japan,” Hinton said. He noted that the price made it attractive, but also offered anecdotal evidence of its popularity due to its size. “I have certainly seen a lot of people share their new console purchases on Twitter saying how cute, small and attractive it is to a lot of people. So we’re seeing a stronger demand for it.

In addition to increased consumer demand for Xbox products, Hinton says developer interest is also increasing. “We now have more Japanese-language developed content in our ecosystem than we have had at any time in our history,” he said. He also noted the growing popularity of Xbox on the Japanese independent scene. “I think we have more dev kits with indie developers in Japan than we have ever had in our history, and there is a lot of talent and a growing indie scene in Japan,” he said. -he declares.

Xbox Series S and Series X comparison photos

All of this contributes to making Japan one of Microsoft’s first-party localization priority regions. “Microsoft Games Studios’ first-party commitment is full localization for a big market like Japan,” Hinton explained. “It’s our commitment for the future, and it’s a change from what we’ve done historically, where it’s been done individually title by title. But we recognize that people feel like a community and as we expand in new places, we want to ensure a level of engagement and understanding. “

Hinton notes that localization has been shown to improve player numbers, noting that Microsoft has seen a “direct increase” in the number of Japanese players flowing into Sea of Thieves after its localization.

For more on Xbox, be sure to check everything out on Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase, presented earlier at E3 2021. It offered the latest look at massive Xbox exclusives, such as Forza Horizon 5, Starfield, and Halo Infinite.
