Cyberpunk 2077 developer shoots down Xbox Game Pass rumors

CD Projekt Red denied that Cyberpunk 2077 comes to Xbox Game Pass following a rumor that it could, in fact, do just that. It all started when a brief promotional video in support of Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to consoles included a brief clip of Cyberpunk 2077, and Xbox Cloud Gaming is part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate memberships. The problem, of course, is that Cyberpunk 2077 is not currently on Xbox Game Pass and has not been advertised as coming to the subscription service.

The rumor started gain traction on Reddit at the start of the discussion on the short promotional clip. Notably, the original promotional video which featured the clip has now been removed by Xbox, and it looks like no replacements have been uploaded at the time of writing. And Radek Grabowski, director of global public relations for CD Projekt Red, explicitly said “there are no Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077”. You can check it out for yourself below:

Now the implied part of this statement is “currently”. Just because there are no plans right now that there never will be, but based on the fact that Xbox has apparently pulled the promo video and CD Projekt’s loud denial. Red, this certainly seems to be a mistake rather than an unintentional leak. before an announcement.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. It’s also available to play on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S with a free upgrade slated for release in 2022 to take advantage of next-gen hardware. What do you think of the rumor that Xbox Game Pass could add Cyberpunk 2077? Seems pretty unlikely considering CD Projekt Red’s statement, right? Let us know in the comments, or feel free to reach out and get in touch directly on Twitter at @rollinbishop to talk about everything related to games!
