Former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé praised Xbox’s impact on the gaming industry.
As pointed out Xbox pure, Fils-Aimé hosted an Xbox Pioneer Panel (which is embedded below), and he shared his thoughts on platform and console support. The video aims to celebrate the console’s 20th anniversary through the lens of the Xbox Visionaries.
“At the time of launch, right now, 20 years later, the industry is better off with the launch of the Xbox, I believe so passionately,” Fils-Aimé said. “And the fact that there are all of these companies making all of this wonderful content, the ecosystem is so robust, Xbox is a big part of it.”
“When the Xbox first launched, I wasn’t in the industry, I was a consumer – I was this prototype consumer who already had a PS2 in my house, I had a N64, I was thinking of a GameCube but actually I didn’t buy a GameCube until I was already part of Nintendo… but it was my son, an avid gamer, who said we need to check out this Xbox thing… and the pilot was Halo, and that experience is what brought the original Xbox into my house with this great old controller. It’s been my Xbox memory from the very beginning, ”added Fils-Aimé.
There’s a lot of other talk in the video about the making of the Xbox, Xbox Live, and even a mention of the Dreamcast.
In other recent Nintendo management news, current Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser said the company has “taken action” regarding the situation with Activision Blizzard.
Bowser said, “I find these stories painful and disturbing. They go against my values and against Nintendo’s beliefs, values and policies.
