How Outer Wilds Will Be Different On PS5, Xbox X/S, And Switch

Outer Wilds is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, and those consoles should optimize game performance.

Mobius-Digital Outer Wildlands will soon land on PlayStation 5, Xbox series X/S and nintendo switch, and the indie space exploration game would receive next-gen upgrades. The unique title tasks players with exploring a beautiful solar system in search of a way to stop a supernova that will destroy everything. However, a time loop mechanic allows players to retain any knowledge they gain after restarting at the start of the 22-minute cycle. Earlier this year it was announced that the game will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, and free Outer Wildlands upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S were also recently revealed.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

Released in 2019, Outer Wildlands emphasizes exploration as players attempt to prevent the destruction of the solar system. Similar to a roguelike adventure game, the indie title’s time-loop mechanic gives players endless possibilities to seek out different planets and progress through the mysterious tale of Outer Wildlands. Retaining knowledge allows players to progress much faster over time, with the code to unlock a spaceship being retained after players initially find it. While braving dangerous planets is an integral part of Outer Wildlandsthe game is centered on exploration and learning rather than interstellar combat.

Outer Wildlandsaccompanied by sound Echoes of the eye expansion, originally launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. However, the massive popularity of the unique sci-fi adventure led Mobius Digital to bring it to other consoles as well. A Nintendo Switch version of Outer Wildlands was announced in February 2021 and slated for release in mid-2021, although this version of the title has unfortunately been delayed. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the title were recently announced. Those who own the game on PS4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade it to the next-gen version for free to enjoy some improvements.

Outer Wilds will enjoy 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Outer Wilds PS5 Xbox Series X/S Upgrade

By updating Outer Wildlands On Xbox One or PlayStation 4 to Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5 versions, players will be able to enjoy the cosmic adventure at 60 frames per second natively. This will make the action even more intense and bring the game’s various planets to life in even more fascinating detail. While details on the Nintendo Switch version of the game are still scarce, fans are hoping this version of the game will also hit 60fps like its PS5 and Xbox Series X/S rivals. Other than an FPS boost, publisher Annapurna Interactive didn’t reveal any other graphical or gameplay changes for Outer Wildlands.

It seems appropriate for the cosmic adventure game to release on Nintendo Switch, considering Outer Wildlands was inspired by Zelda and other similar games. While the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version promises to hit 60 FPS, it’s unclear if the Nintendo Switch will improve the performance of the indie title. Given the age of the nintendo switchit seems possible that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X/S can more easily optimize Outer Wildlands and its collection of colorful planets.
