Cyberpunk 2077 was a colossal disappointment when it released in December 2020. But a year and 10 fixes later, it’s finally at least in playable state. In fact, people are actually enjoying it now, as evidenced by the rave reviews from users on Steam.
If you declined to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 when it launched, it’s currently on sale for the holidays on Xbox. Of course, Xbox is also home to the world’s largest gaming service: Xbox Game Pass.
In its recent investor call, CD Projekt Red was asked if there are any plans to bring Cyberpunk 2077 onto Xbox Game Pass. After all, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, another CDPR title, was offered on the service at one point.
While CDPR President Adam KiciÅski has not ruled out the possibility that the game will eventually arrive on Xbox Game Pass, he thinks it’s too early now.
âWitcher 3 had been in a subscription for some time [Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now], but we have to weigh the benefits and costs each time, so we have to compare it to sales, so it’s a data-driven decision. It’s far too early for Cyberpunk.
Even though Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for a year now, sales have likely been disrupted due to the many issues and bugs that have hindered its launch. It was so bad that Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from many digital storefronts and refunds were offered. CDPR probably wants to see what they can grab in terms of sales, but considering the game was available for as low as $ 9.99 during the Black Friday period, I’m not sure how much more it can be. profitable for them. Depending on what Microsoft offers, Xbox Game Pass may be the most lucrative option for them.
Speculation about Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Game Pass comes shortly after images of the game appeared in marketing for Microsoft’s subscription service. However, The CDPR was quick to beat the rumor down. So, as of now, Cyberpunk 2077 is not expected to hit Xbox Game Pass in the near future.
