Leaked footage claims to show Forza Motorsport 8 running on Xbox One

Images claiming to show the upcoming Forza Motorsport game running on the latest-gen Xbox One console have surfaced online.

The images were posted on the Subreddit r/gamingleaksandrumours Saturday, and would have been verified by the site’s moderators as legitimate.

So far, the next Forza Motorsport has only been announced for Microsoft’s Xbox Series S and X next-gen consoles, though most of its first-party games to date have been cross-console and PC titles. gen.

If genuine, it’s possible the footage is from one of the closed tests that developer Turn 10 held for the racing installment. It’s possible that the last-gen version was only included as part of these tests, since Turn 10 claimed that it only provided “parts” of the new game.

It would be surprising if a cross-gen release was planned, given Turn 10’s previous claims that its next game would offer “a huge generation leap” for the racing series.

Creative director Chris Esaki claimed last summer that the playtests Turn 10 held gave players an idea of how the studio had gone about “revamping and deepening” the franchise’s core physics and gameplay. .

“To put the physical work into perspective for everyone, the changes we’ve made to Forza Motorsport 7 so far are more than the changes we’ve made to Motorsport 4 through 7, so it’s basically a huge leap. generation coming into the game,” he said.

According to Esaki, in every Forza Motorsport game past, the tire crash pattern had a single point of contact with the track surface and refreshed at around 60 cycles per second, or 60Hz. The new model has eight points of contact with the track surface and operates at 360 cycles per second, or 360 Hz.

“So if you do the math there, it’s a 48x jump in fidelity in a single tire crash itself, so there’s just a tremendous amount of work that really paid off for us” , Esaki said.

Forza Motorsport for Xbox Series X was announced in summer 2020 and described as “a reimagining” of the series. At the time, Turn 10 creative director Dan Greenawalt said xbox.com that the game was in its infancy.
