It’s always best to take any kind of video game leak with a grain of salt, but I’ve got a pretty good idea of at least one of the free July PlayStation Plus titles that recently leaked online.
One way to assess the validity of a leak is through the history of the leak. For the July PS Plus title, the leaker already had a decent detail.
The leak in question concerns the medieval adventure game A plague tale: Innocence. Ahead of E3, a leaker said the game was going to be getting a next-gen remaster. Indeed, at E3, the remaster was announced, as well as the excellent sequel, A plague tale: Requiem.
The second half of the leaker’s prediction was that A story of plague: innocence Remastered would be the July PS Plus game on PS5. It hasn’t happened yet, but judging by the accuracy of the Remaster leak, it’s a safe bet, to say the least. This isn’t always the case with PS Plus leaks, or video game leaks, for that matter.
Is this good or bad news for PS Plus subscribers? Quite well actually. A story of plague: innocence is not only a magnificent game (which will certainly be even better on PS5), it is also a heart-wrenching adventure through medieval France slaughtered by a mysterious rat plague. It’s a stealth action game where you play as Amicia, guiding her brother Hugo through burning villages, hiding from the ruthless Inquisition, and using your wits and a handful of special preparations, like firebombs, to stay desire.
The remastered version of the game sounds perfect, bringing 4K resolution, 60fps, and 3D audio support to the title. We still don’t know the price, but the remaster’s release date is July 6. It’s the first Tuesday in July, which is going pretty well for a PS Plus release. We’ll likely have a PlayStation Plus announcement on Wednesday, June 30, so we’ll know for sure. Stay tuned . . . .
