After a sluggish start to the year, video games like, brought the game to life in 2021. And after E3 in June, we now have a much better idea of what the second half of 12 months will look like. Now we have new Metroid, Forza, and Marvel video games to stick with – in addition to , introduced in July.
Below is an inventory of all the major launch dates for the 12 months – but note that delays are always potential. Only a few video games have been postponed to 2021, including Hogwarts Legacy and .
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 continues to arrive, but it’s a factor of 2022. In the meantime, Nintendo is reviving Skyward Sword, launched in 2011 on Wii, for a change. Skyward Sword HD will run at 60fps, take advantage of Amiibo support, and use Pleasure-Cons to handle Hyperlink’s sword and protect.
Neo: The world ends with you
Launch date: July 27
The World Ends With You was a cult classic on Nintendo DS and in July, 14 years after its preliminary launch, the sport got a sequel. Neo: The World Ends With You provides another dimension to the sport – in fact, it is now a 3D RPG role-playing game. It will be produced by Tetsuya Nomura, of Kingdom Hearts and Ultimate Fantasy 7 Remake, and will be available for launch on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Change.
No Extra Heroes is a hack-and-slash recreation that got off to a good start again in 2008 on the Wii. He has since amassed a substantial cult, and has was very well received by critics. After a delay related to COVID-19, More heroes 3 will launch on Change on August 27.
WarioWare video games, for those who don’t know, rule completely. You wouldn’t realize it by watching the gameplay, or certainly the WarioWare: Get It Collectively !, launch trailer, but the microgame collections are always enjoyable and rarely addicting. The latest game, which will launch on the change in September, features multiplayer for the first time.
After years focused primarily on Dishonored, builders Arkane Studios are moving to a brand new IP address in Deathloop. And it looks sick.
Here’s the thought: you’re a murderer trapped in a time loop that resets after each day. To be able to escape, you must kill eight “visionaries” scattered around an island. The caveat is that you will have to do this in a time loop. The second caveat is that while you hunt down the Eight Visionaries, a rival murderer remains busy with research you.
Deathloop will release for PlayStation 5 and PC on September 14, with an Xbox model likely to come in the next 12 months (it timed console exclusivity for a year).
Metroid Prime Four was introduced 4 years ago – and we’ve hardly heard of it since. Fans were hoping we would get a preview of E3, but instead we got a very different Metroid game: Metroid Dread. Enough as the Prime sequence of the first-person shooter, Dread takes the sequence back to its 2D roots.
It’s not Metroid Prime four, but it will surely be out in less than 4 months – and it’s good to be good. Take the wins where you get them.
Originally slated for a February launch, Far Cry 6 has been pushed back to October. It will be the largest and most comprehensive of the Far Cry, but it takes place in the tropical Yara area – loosely based mostly on Cuba. Not only will the game launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Sequence X | S, PC and Google Stadia, but it will also arrive on Amazon’s Luna platform.
Battlefield 2042 is the all-new main Battlefield game since Battlefield V of 2018, and it’s all about multiplayer. In fact: there is no single player marketing campaign, with the story mode, which takes place in a world destabilized by local climate change, being multiplayer only. This will suit many fans of the franchise, as Battlefield is generally all about online multiplayer combat, and there will actually be plenty of it.
The Avengers are square. Enix’s ever-evolving Marvel movement game, which will soon see the addition of Black Panther. Guardians of the Galaxy is a self-contained journey that allows you to play as a Star-Lord – and only as a Star-Lord. There’s surprisingly no multiplayer, but that, according to the builders, will allow for a more focused and cohesive storytelling experience. I am down.
Age of Empires IV
Launch date: October 28.
We don’t know too much about Age of Empires IV. It was introduced in 2017, and we noticed a gameplay preview in 2019 and received some new trailers in March and later at E3. They confirmed the same format that you know and love, but with dramatically improved graphics, and confirmed the civilizations recognized as part of the game: Chinese language, English, French, Mongols, Abbasid dynasty, and the Delhi Sultanate.
The game is scheduled for release on PC on October 28.
Gran Turismo 7 could have been postponed for the next 12 months, but the massive Xbox racing franchise luckily doesn’t have it. Forza Horizon 5 was revealed at E3, with a trailer showcasing the game’s new open-world racing digs in Mexico. For those who have played a Forza Horizon game, you already know the trick: it looks appealing, and it’s probably going to play just fine.
Forza Horizon 5 will launch not only on Xbox Sequence X | S, but also on Xbox One and PC.
Grand Theft Auto V
Launch date: November 11.
Grand Theft Auto V continues to be the best-selling game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on November 11, it will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Sequence X.
Note that you can now play this sport on Sport Move if you have an Xbox One or Sequence X | S.
The Pokémon firm
Pokemon Crimson and Blue received a remake on Sport Boy Advance (and subsequently the Change), Silver and Gold on DS, and Ruby and Sapphire on 3DS. Pearl and Diamond, initially launched on DS in 2007, are on the rise thereafter. Good Diamond and Shining Pearl are approaching November 19.
Video games coming in 2021
The next titles should be launched within 12 months. We will be replacing this webpage as video games have an official launch date.
Lego Star Wars is on again after 5 years. The last time we noticed the franchise was with 2016 The Force Awakens. This recreation looks much bolder: The Skywalker Saga Lego-izes the 9 Star Wars movies. The game was slated for an early 2021 launch date, but has been delayed until – we don’t know exactly when.
Halo Infinite was supposed to be the big factor launching alongside the Xbox Sequence X | S, but after poor response from fans to a 12-month preview, it was delayed until fall 2021. The Halo title at alone makes it a staple for many Xbox owners and manufacturers, 343 Industries is trying a new thing by making multiplayer free.
Horizon forbidden to the west
Launch date: 2021
Horizon Zero Daybreak is one of the best games on PlayStation 4, and its sequel arrives in 2021. Horizon Forbidden West traces Aloy’s journey through Utah, Nevada, and California in the 30th century as she tracks down the origins of a killer virus. In fact, a recreation for our occasions.
Horizon Forbidden West will launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this year.
