PSP: Biker injured in crash on Saturday outside Sunbury | New

HAMILTON – A motorcyclist suffered suspected serious injuries in a crash involving three vehicles on Saturday outside Sunbury.

According to Private Jordan Judson of Stonington State Police, James J. Carnese, 54, of Nesquehoning, crashed a 2006 Harley-Davidson Street Glide around noon on Route 890 and Cider Press Road in Rockefeller Township. , Northumberland County.

Judson said Carnese was riding in a group of six motorcyclists. The crash happened when Carnese did not anticipate the lead motorcyclist would slow down and turn left onto Cider Press Road, according to Judson.

Carnese swerved, causing the motorcycle to fall onto its left side and skid off the pavement in a wooded area, Judson said. The Americus community ambulance transported Carnese for treatment at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was listed in fair condition shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, according to a supervising nurse.

Christopher J. Byelick, 52, of Auburn, and William P. Kripplebauer, 50, of Ashland, each swerved their own motorbikes to avoid Carnese and other bikers before crashing into the freeway and skid on the right berm, according to Judson. The two were treated on the spot and refused further treatment, Judson said.
