Resident Evil Village Wins Game of the Year at Golden Joystick Awards

Resident Evil Village took home its first Game of the Year award at tonight’s Golden Joystick Awards, where it was crowned Ultimate Game of the Year and PlayStation Game of the Year. He went on to also win the Best Audio and Best Performer categories (Maggie Robertson as Lady Dimitrescu). The Golden Joystick Awards are decided by public vote, which means which games to win have been decided by fans and gamers. The Critics Choice Award went to Deathloop.

Elsewhere, Life Is Strange: True Colors took home best storytelling, Death’s Door was crowned best indie game, and the PlayStation 5 console was voted best gaming hardware. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart had the best visual design, the Iki Island expansion for Ghost of Tsushima was named the best game expansion, and Returnal developer Housemarque won the Breakthrough Award. The ultimate game of all time was also voted on, with the winner being Dark Souls.

  • PC Game of the Year – Hitman 3
  • Nintendo Game of the Year – Terror Metroid
  • Xbox Game of the Year – Psychonauts 2

  • Critics’ Choice Award – Death loop
